Transforming (Figurative) Pickles Into Awesomeness

Think about the biggest challenge you’ve faced recently. What made you try to overcome it?

There are times when life seems totally against you and not quite "pleasant," to put it cleanly. There always will be, and we may feel totally deflated and beat up. I know that's how I felt just 24 hours ago. This week has been a struggle. Just a single moment of naivete and ignorance got me in a pickle, which caused me to experience all these raw emotions. I felt conquered, duped, and defeated. I ALLOWED these feelings to control my thoughts and thwart my momentum. But I also TOTALLY learned from this situation.

Yesterday two of my accountability buddies (Heather Parady and Shane Breslin) spoke words that resonated with me. Their words reminded me that despite the crap, it is ALWAYS worth moving forward. I hunkered down and reflected. I asked myself: WHY do I need this hurdle not to halt my momentum, HOW can I transform my attitude, and WHAT can I do to keep trucking? This is what I came up with:

My Why: Because when I work towards progress and growth, I make an impact

My How: I reminded myself that when I create an impact, it invites fulfillment and satisfaction into my life and the lives of others

My What: I will innovate and create something new and energizing

What did I do next? I took action. I turned my circumstances around. I created something new: got a domain name, started a website, made a logo, and added some content. This seemingly negative pickle, my friends, is how EmpoweringSpeechie came to be!

All obstacles are LEARNING EXPERIENCES and create OPPORTUNITIES. So, what pushed me to try to overcome my pickle? The lesson it taught me. So learn from your “struggle is real” situations and transform them into something AWESOME.
